My updown garden plants died real fast. Did I pack the dirt to tight?
I bought some of those topsy turvey gardens for my house but when I planted chilis and tomatoes they never grew. I thought the idea of growing them upside down would be a little easier then normal gardening. I did pack the dirt tight and I know I also watered them usually once every other day. Did I pack the dirt to tight or was I watering them to much or to less? I want to try it again but want to do it right this time. I will be planting tomatoes and some chilis again
You did a few things wrong. You don't pack the soil. The roots grow better when the soil is loose. The tiny new roots grow faster and have an easier time spreading throughout loose soil. You also mentioned using dirt.You are best not to use regular garden dirt because it will compact too much. You should use a loose growing medium. I use potting soil with lots of compost and coir (coconut fiber) or peat mixed in to hold moisture.
