Can you plant the same amaryllis bulb more than once and still get the flower?

Can you plant the same amaryllis bulb more than once and still get the flower? Or is it just the leaves that come back?

Yes, it will flower every year given the chance. Some bulbs that are bought in Europe may have been specially treated to flower at Christmas so it may take a couple of years to get it back into its natural routine.
When the plant has finished flowering cut back the flower stem (or let it dry out) but make sure you keep the bulb moist so that the leaves continue to grow and provide energy to build up the bulb to flower the following year. It likes bright light but not intense sunlight. You can feed the plant with a house plant feed if you wish.
In June or July allow the plant to dry out until the leaves wither, when this is complete cut them off and store the bulb in a dry, cool place, in the pot or out of it makes little difference. In November trim off the dried roots from last year and pot the bulb in new compost in a pot that is at least twice as wide as the bulb. Don't plant it deeply, just half-way up the bulb. Bring the plant indoors where it is warmer and keep it just moist, too much water will rot the bulb. Be patient and the flower will appear anew to amaze you. Good luck.
