#1. Grow all plants in the growing conditions required by each plant. Planting natives for your area and using common sence when it comes to weed control such as preventative weed granuals called preen, which keeps the weed seeds from germinating in the current season. The above suggestions are only a drop in the bucket when it comes to preventative maintance. I could write a book. Experience is the best teacher of preventative maintance. Remember staying one step ahead of disease, bug problems,pruning and planting according to each plants requirements as well as fertilizing and watering. By walking thru your garden daily this will help give you an edge on garden preventative maintance.
#2.Electrical motors used in the garden for various styles of garden art can be one use for them.
#3. Don't over load the plugs and extension cords. Use precausions when using any cutting electrical tool (Cutting thru cords etc. Never use the wrong size electrical outlet. Always keep cords dry and away from water.
#4. Check oil, filter, spark plugs, gas filter.
#5. Tiller, Tractor,rider mower.
#6. Sharpen the shears with a sharpener stone and oil. Wip clean and your as good as new. Works for me....
#1.Arbors, lattace tee pee and your imagination to build any structure to train plants to grow on, even fences are great.
#2. The best type of material available are the greenhouse kits available thru sources in the phonebook and big box stores. These greenhouses are designed to last and the polycarbon plastic materials uses to reflect the light are double celled to keep the heat in and cold out and vice versa. They are UV proof. I have one built with pvc pipes that are steel pipe lined and the greenhouse has been in use for 15 years. It was a kit and we put it together ourselves. Easy as pie. There are many on the market, just do your homework to find the one that fits your pocketbook and requirements.
#3. Timers on motorized sprayers on overhead rails or soaker hoses with special emitters are some of the commerical watering systems.
#4. Fans and vents. Some are electrical others are hand cranked and others are on timers.
